PARTY SAFARI 2010

When we posted this teaser and the corresponding facebook event invites in August 2010, we knew it was a ridiculously long shot. We had no resources, no vehicle and no money. We were just hoping something might materialize.

It was the Ghostbusters Mindset:

We figured that realistically, we’d have to save up all Winter and do Party Safari in the Spring (and adjust the teaser and Facebook invites accordingly).

BUT THEN!
We received an immediate+overwhelming response from across the country, with thousands of enthusiastic people signing up and offering to help us out.

And we discovered IndieGoGo, which would hopefully be the key to securing the financing we needed.

So, we said: Let’s Just Do It Right Now.

We picked seven stops Coast-To-Coast:
Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Fredericton and Vancouver.

Set up IndieGoGo fund-raising pages in each one:
Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Fredericton, Regina, Calgary

Doubled our credit card limits, assembled an Elite Banana Task Force, tossed 200 boomboxes in a rented motorhome, crossed our fingers and set out on an Adventure..

…Against all odds, we survived; delivering seven wild Parties across 13,000km in 18 days.

We Partied Hard every stop of the tour and received unanimously positive reviews from everyone who came out and shared the DDP experience with us.

And it was great to have such a diverse array of people embrace our “Canadian” theme and help to re-create the indescribable Unity+Joy+Canadian Pride that we’d experienced only once before- during Vancouver’s recent Olympic celebrations

Young and Old, Black and White, Male and Female- from Crust Punks and Party Animals to Nerds and Natives. From Jocks and Juggalos to Shy Asians and Scandalous Sex-bombs. The DDP truly is a Party for everyone. A crazy communal undertaking that brought thousands of strangers together to sing and dance and enjoy life to the fullest in the fine streets of our fine country!

The only downside was that we ended up losing a ton of money, so we are really hoping we can win the Refresh Grant to finance Party Safari 2011- please VOTE for us!
